Ray Acheson

Chairman - Ray Acheson

Firstly, I would like to welcome you to our web site and thank you for your interest. This site and all involved in it have dedicated themselves to the development of grass roots rugby.

I, like all of our International and Provincial players, have enjoyed the game of rugby for many years and have become very aware of the pressures that rugby clubs are under. With the advent of the professional game these pressures have been compounded.

Rather than reminisce about "the good old days" we've been galvanised into action. The Legends is about putting back into our noble game by helping schools and clubs throughout Ireland.

I encourage you to visit our section 'How Can We Help'. This list is not exhaustive so we look forward to your creative inputs in the near future.

PRO: Manus Lappin

Caps:
4 (2 baseball, one beanie & a Trilby)
Born:
No, just created
International Debut:
Cant remember, been concussed ever since
Final Appearance:
Still playing, although some would question that.

Manus Lappin is the editor of Emerald Rugby Magazine and a self confessed ‘Rugby Nut’. He started his playing career at Portadown RFC before a brief spell with Portadown saw him eventually settle at… you’ve guessed it, Portadown. Some would say Manus is a ‘utility player’ and this season to date he has played Hooker, Backrow, Prop, Secondrow and Winger, other adjectives have been used to describe his style of play… none of them printable.

Manus is very much involved in the promotion and development of ‘grass roots rugby’ having recently provided international coaching to some 1500 grass roots players throughout Ireland with the very popular Emerald Rugby Roadshows. Manus is also the PRO of the Irish Rugby League team.
